Our client, a respected player in the Oil and Gas sector, is currently seeking a competent and experienced project engineer.
Job Summary
The Lead Project Engineer has the ownership of the technical coordination of the engineering disciplines of the business and represents a reference point to the client for all technical matters
Duties and Responsibilities
1. Project Management
- Lead and oversee new and existing projects, ensuring timely delivery, budget control, and quality standards.
- Coordinate with engineering, procurement, and operations teams for smooth execution.
- Track milestones and report progress to your Line Manager.
2. Financial & Operational Efficiency
- Review project costs and implement cost-saving measures to improve profitability.
- Manage budgeting, forecasting, and resource allocation.
- Monitor material usage to minimize wastage.
3. Client & Vendor Relations
Maintain strong relationships with clients and vendors.
- Identify and pursue new business opportunities.
- Serve as the primary contact for external stakeholders.
4. Risk, Quality & Compliance
- Identify risks and implement mitigation strategies.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, safety standards, and regulations.
- Oversee quality assurance and conduct regular inspections.
5. Team Leadership
Promote a culture of safety, resolve conflicts, and drive continuous improvement.
Guide and support project teams for productivity and collaboration.
Conduct regular briefings to align teams on goals and expectations.
Qualifications
● Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant Engineering discipline or project management.
● A master’s degree or MBA is a plus.
● 10+ years of engineering/project/program management experience in the Nigerian oil and gas industry.
● Applicable COREN license or NSE membership is a plus.
● Proven track record of managing complex, multidisciplinary projects in the oil and gas sector.
● Strong technical knowledge of oil and gas processes and engineering principles.
● Proficiency in utilizing computer applications, software, and tools relevant to project and engineering management.
● Solid understanding of Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) regulations and best practices; NEBOSH or OSHA certifications are preferred where applicable.
